It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of a devoted father, proud veteran, and beloved member of the community. Hector Javier Guerrero, 74, of Gravette, Arkansas passed away on October 15, 2025. He was born on January 1, 1951, in Donna, Texas to the late Benito Hooks and Lina Guerrero.
Hector proudly served his country in the U.S. Army for two years, earning his degree in mechanical engineering. Hector married his wife, Maria Isabel, and the two were happily married for over 48 years. They raised six children together, and Hector always had an unwavering dedication to his family.
Following his service in the military, he had a career at Superior Industries that spanned over 25 years, where he worked with commitment and integrity as a plant manager. The position moved him and his family all over, and they finally settled in Northwest Arkansas. In 1993, he and Maria fulfilled a dream of opening the first Mexican food store in Rogers, Guerrero’s Mexican Food Store. This business not only served their community but also embodied his entrepreneurial spirit and love for culture and family.
A true hands-on man, Hector could fix just about anything. He had a deep love for cars, especially working on them, and in his younger days, you’d often find him riding his motorcycle. He loved watching TV and movies, especially old westerns and wrestling. In his younger years, he enjoyed hunting and fishing. Above all, he was a pillar of strength for his family- a protector, a provider, and a steady presence who gave without asking for anything in return. He took care of many people throughout the years, often opening his door to strangers and providing them with a safe place to stay. His kindness was profound, and his giving nature left a lasting impact on everyone lucky enough to know him.
Hector is preceded in death by: parents, Benito Hooks and Lina Guerrero; and brothers, Ernesto Hook and Benito Hooks Jr.
He is survived by: loving wife, Maria Isabel Guerrero; sons, Frank Guerrero (Tina), Juan Guerrero (Maritza), and Genaro Guerrero (Cindy); daughters, Betty Guerrero (Jose), Dolores Morales, and Junnell Aguilar (Alex); sisters, Mary Ann Hooks, and Sandra Hooks; 26 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
