James Julian “Jim” Chasteen, 85 of Garfield passed away Saturday, February 2, 2019. He was born September 19, 1933 in the White County Arkansas community of Step Rock to the late Jesse Lee “Sam” Chasteen and Nora Alta Wise Chasteen. Mr. Chasteen is preceded in death by his 2 sisters, Lorraine Summers and Roberta Windland and his 2 brothers, J.L. and Carl Chasteen. For 66 years he was the loving husband of Faye Wood Chasteen, who survives. Other survivors include his daughter, Rhonda Elkins of Rogers; sons, Steve Chasteen, and wife Jamie, of Maumelle and Kelly Chasteen, and wife Missy, of Garfield; a sister, Frances Duncan of Heber Springs; 8 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren (and counting), numerous extended family members and dear friends. Jim proudly served in the US Army and relocated with Faye to Northwest Arkansas to raise their family and begin his career with Daisy Manufacturing. Jim was self-made and self-reliant. From his education to his career as a tool and die maker, Jim was a master with his hands. After 35 years with Daisy, he retired as Production Manager. Jim enjoyed being outdoors and working on their farm. Jim was a life-long Christian, an ordained Deacon for 52 years and, along with Faye, charter members of Boundless Grace Baptist Church in Little Flock, AR. As a 40-year member of Gideons International, he was instrumental in the establishment of the Benton County Jail ministry and for 33 years conducted weekly bible study at the jail. His years of devotion sharing God’s Word at the jail was honored with the naming of the Chapel in his name. Services for Jim will be held Wednesday, February 6, 2019 at First Baptist Church of Garfield, 17784 Marshall Street, Garfield, AR with Visitation from Noon until the Funeral Service at 2:00pm. Interment will follow in Ruddick Cemetery, Hwy 127 near Garfield. Memorials are suggested to The Gideons International Processing Center, P.O. To Faye & Family.

Sorry to hear about Jim passing away. I have lots of fond memories while working with Jim at Daisy. Above all the memories Jim was a devout Christian person and well respected. I did not get to his service. I substitute teach at Rogers High School and could not get away. God bless all of you. Take care. 🙏

Jim Chasteen was always most kind to me during my five years at Daisy Mfg, and more of the same years later at Music at the Frisco Park, downtown Rogers, where he played many nights and elsewhere.
