James (Jim) Hock, 87 years, of Jane, Missouri departed this life on Wednesday, August 22nd, 2018 at the Circle of Life in Bentonville, Arkansas with his loving family by his side.

Jim was born in Oilla, Texas and was the oldest of eight children born to the late James Hock, Sr and Wilrey Granger. On December 14, 1952 in Baker, Louisiana he was united in marriage to Beverly Fairchild and to this union three daughters were born. Throughout Jim’s life he was a hard worker, devoted to God and country and to his loving family. Jim grew up in the southeastern part of Texas and was stationed in El Paso during his time in the Army. Jim and Beverly lived in Louisiana until August of 1969 when they left Louisiana and moved to Jane, Missouri.

Jim was a Korean War Veteran proudly serving as a Corporal in the US Army and honorably discharged in August of 1952. Jim was a farmer, a small business owner, and a plant operator for Uniroyal in Baton Rouge, Louisiana in his younger years but mostly Jim was a faithful servant of his Lord and Savior. Jim never missed a moment to witness to anyone that would listen about his love for God. Jim had one message to spread the word about Jesus; that Jesus Christ came, he died on a cross, he rose again, and to receive him by faith as Lord and Savior is to have everlasting life.

Jim is survived by two of his daughters, Terri Smith and husband Danny of Jane, Missouri, Jamie Harvey Johns of Jane. Several grandchildren; Rebecca Smith Caldwell and husband Butch, Keith Smith and wife Amelia, Jason Collins and wife Tricia, Lee Ross, Nathan Harvey, Katelyn Beverlee Johns and great grandchildren, Mason Wesley Collins, Parker Collins, Kevin Shunn, Kaiden Gardner, Hunter James Smith, Cassie K Ross, Harley J Collins, Zander Collins and a great great grandchild, Willow K Thompson, and a host of other family and friends.

Jim is preceded in death by his wife, Beverly, his daughter, Karen Potter, his grandson, Shane Collins and grandson James Chad Harvey and son-in-law, Brad Johns.

A celebration of Jim’s life will be held Saturday, August 25, 2018 at 11:00 a.m., at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, 2938 Rains Road, Jane, Missouri with Pastor Hank Gorman officiating. Mr. Hock was the first person I met after moving to Bear Hollow. He and Beverly were always there for me. I love him and all his family like my own. He will be missed. I had a great visit with him the same day that he later fell. Love to all.
