Janice Kay Hendrickson, 82, of Rogers, Arkansas, passed away on July 8, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. Born on July 30, 1943, in Asher, Arkansas, Janice lived a life marked by quiet service, steadfast faith, and an unwavering commitment to those around her.
Janice had a heart of gold and a smile that could brighten any room. To know her was to love her. She instinctively noticed the needs of others and rarely missed an opportunity to help. Even during difficult seasons of her own life, her focus remained on encouraging, comforting, and caring for those around her. She delighted in opening her home for family holidays, where her sweet potato casserole became a cherished tradition. Creating a place where others could gather, laugh, and make memories brought her immense happiness.
Janice embraced every season of life with strength and grace. She spent her childhood working alongside her parents and siblings on the family farm, milking cows and caring for her horse, Queen. She married her husband, Harold, in 1962, beginning a journey around the world as they followed his service in the United States Navy. Together they built a life shaped by adventure, perseverance, and partnership.
Janice raised her two daughters to be strong, independent women, just as she was. She later found one of her greatest blessings in becoming a grandmother. She treasured every opportunity to encourage her three grandchildren and again with her great-grandchildren. They knew they could always count on her steady presence, wise counsel, and unwavering support. She was the heart of her family, leading by example with humility, resilience, and a servant's spirit.
Janice cultivated a passion for travel, beginning with the adventures she experienced as a Navy wife. Many years of military family life took her to new cities and places around the world, and she embraced each move as an opportunity to explore and create lasting memories. Later in life, she developed a love of cruising, finding joy in seeing the world at a more leisurely pace. She also enjoyed trying her luck at local casinos and in Las Vegas, where she could happily spend hours playing the penny slot machines.
Although Janice had been a lifelong Christian and faithfully attended church for many years, she chose to publicly affirm her faith through baptism in 2024 at First United Methodist Church in Bentonville. Her walk with Christ was reflected not only in that meaningful decision, but in the grace she extended, the encouragement she offered, and the quiet example she set for those fortunate enough to know her.
Janice is lovingly remembered by her daughter, Sandy Mahoney (Larry); her grandchildren, Caitlin Spears (Ryan), Brendan Mahoney (Jordan), and Cody Stamps (Samantha); her great-grandchildren, Brady, Maggie, Madelyn, and Kellen; her sister, Donna Chappell; her son-in-law, Luther Stamps; and many cherished nieces, nephews, family members, and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Hendrickson; her daughter, Rhonda Stamps; her brothers, Howard Glenn and Arlin Glenn; and her parents, Grace and Arthur Glenn.
A celebration of Janice's life will be held on Thursday, July 16, 2026, at First United Methodist Church, 201 NW 2nd Street, Bentonville, Arkansas. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m., followed by a funeral service at 10:00 a.m. Burial will take place at 12:30 p.m. at Fayetteville National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made to the American Heart Association in Janice's memory.
