She was born on March 8, 1938, in Bohol, Philippines to the late Teofilo and Maria (Hangad) Bersamin. Growing up as a child during World War 2, amazingly she survived the Japanese invasion of the Philippines by hiding in the jungle with her family in secret and lived off the land for their daily sustenance. Being a mature strong young woman, she married and mothered 13 children by all-natural childbirth with her late husband Ricardo Napoles Sr. Together they had a successful Jeepney business in Toril, Davao City while raising up the family. Her husband passed away earlier from illness leaving her a widow at age 54, at which point she continued to live out a long fulfilling life with all her children, friends, and large family. She never decided to re-marry but rather thought it best to give her life to service in the Catholic Church where she was very active. Needing extra care later in life, at age 72 she was welcomed into the home of her daughter Marichu, son in-law Brian, and grandson Reuben to live with them in the United States where she became a U.S citizen shortly thereafter. She was a truly fun and outgoing spirit who loved to socialize with everyone. A talented dancer, she frequently participated in group dancing and singing at various events in the public. Right up to the time before her death, she was very active for her age and always thought of by everyone as the life of the party and will be deeply missed. Her devotion and faith in the Lord Jesus were witnessed by all and we know that her spirit lives on with God and we will be reunited with her again in Heaven one day.
