June was born in San Francisco and raised as an only child in the Marina neighborhood. Some of her earliest memories include walking to nearby St. Bridget Catholic School with future mayor George Moscone.

June worked as a dental hygienist before she met a handsome Minnesota farm boy and WW2 Marine John W. Ryan. They were married at St. Bridget’s in 1956, choosing to raise Kathy, Tim, Laureen and Bill in San Carlos.

She worked for years at city hall, mostly answering the telephone on an old PBX system. This allowed her to stay in touch with city business and all the best rumors. June’s sport clearly was bowling. Through sheer determination, her game got better by the year and eventually 200 games were not uncommon.

Once June and John retired, they moved to Rocklin in the Sierra foothills to be near Kathy and Gary Prince and the grandkids, Katy, Ryan, Meghan and Jillian. They enjoyed travel, including trips with family to Ireland and Alaska. But most trips were to visit their children and grandchildren, Laureen and Casey Simpson in Flagstaff, Arizona, their children, Curtis and Amy Lynn; Bill and Mindy in Arkansas, and their daughters, Jennifer and Alison; and to Minnesota to visit Tim.

June had seven great-grandchildren: Stella, Penelope June, Demi, Kade, Sarah, Patsy and Neil Jr.

June left this life peacefully at her residence in Bella Vista, Arkansas, where she moved following John’s death in 2006, with her children by her side. She’ll be buried alongside John in rural Goodhue, Minnesota, surrounded by corn fields and rolling plains.

A visitation will be on Tuesday, March 26, 2019 from 5 until 7pm in Rollins Funeral Home Chapel.

A funeral mass is scheduled in April at St. Columbkill Church. In lieu of flowers, we suggest donations to St. Jude or your favorite charity.
