OBITUARY

Leroy Keith McElroy

November 30, 1933February 8, 2021

LeRoy (Lee) McElroy, 87, passed away February 8, 2021 in Rogers. He was born on November 30, 1933 in Beaumont, Kansas to the late William Earl McElroy and Gretchen Catherine (Stief) McElroy. He was the loving husband of Jane Ellen (Mourer) McElroy for 58 years.

He was a hard-working and loving husband and father. Lori states: "I was so proud of my tall daddy. One of my favorite memories as a child was when he would come home in the afternoons. I always wanted to show off my daddy to the kids that my mom was babysitting by running and jumping into his arms. He would then let me hang upside down from his arm. He was my protector and defender, coming to my aid if someone hurt me."

He was preceded in death by his parents; and 6 siblings.

Leroy is survived by his wife, Jane McElroy of Rogers; daughter, Lori Scheidler of Missouri; brother, “Cork” McElroy of Kansas; and many nieces and nephews.

His funeral will be on Friday, February 12, 2021 at 11:30am in the Fayetteville National Cemetery, Fayetteville, Arkansas.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations to St. Jude Children’s Hospital at, www.stjude.org.

So very sorry to hear of Lee's passing! Janie, you are in my heart and my prayers! The two of you were the best neighbors I could have ever hoped for, and I miss our visits!
My best memory of Lee is the day he got his last pickup, he was so very proud...outside in the driveway with a pair of tweezers cleaning up the dog hair so it would be pristine!

Much love and prayers!

I went hunting with Uncle Lee when I was a young boy. I have thought of those times often over the years and have always been grateful he took the time. He gave me a BB-gun once, much to my mom's chagrin. Later, after he and Aunt Jane moved to Rogers, we took many family trips to visit. Visiting The Ozarks was always an adventure! Being the nephew of Leroy McElroy was a gift.
