Marjorie Louise Broussard Newman, 85, went to her eternal rest on December 30, 2018, in Rogers, AR. She was born on July 26, 1933 in Monterey, Louisiana to Orelia M. Broussard, Sr. and Nannie Mae Lanehart Broussard.
Her family was her life. A lover of country music, it was very seldom you went to her home that she wasn’t playing one of the oldies (Jerry Lee Lewis and Mickey Gilley being her favorites) and dancing in the kitchen. Known for her delicious biscuits, cornbread and sweet tea, she was a fabulous cook who brought her family together every Tuesday night for a traditional southern meal. She spent her career as a Certified Nursing Assistant, first at Villa Feliciana Geriatric Hospital in Jackson, LA, later in several area nursing homes and up until seven years ago as a local, in-home sitter for the elderly. She had a compassionate heart, dearly loved her ‘patients’ and brought each of them excellent care, laughter and comfort.
Preceding her in death were her husband of 57 years, Raymond R. Newman, Sr. and one daughter, Tammie Alene Newman, her parents, four brothers and three sisters, three nephews and one niece.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughter Debbie Myers and husband Randy of Rogers, AR; son Rusty Newman and wife, Dana of Bentonville, AR; four grandchildren, Danessa Bengs (Walter) of Centerton, AR, Cory Myers (Melanie) of Rogers, AR, Dustin Newman (Katie) of Bentonville, AR, and Casey Myers (Jillian) of Cave Springs, AR. Also survived by three precious great-grandsons, Ryker Ray and Rowan Newman and Gabriel Bengs, many loving nieces and nephews and dear friends.
Visitation will be Wednesday, January 2, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. with the funeral service to begin at 11:00 a.m. at Rollins Funeral Home Chapel in Rogers, AR with burial to follow at Bentonville City Cemetery.
