Louise was born in Prince George, Virginia on March 30th, 1947 to Bruce and Hazel Norton. She grew up in Danville, Virginia before marrying Gary Standridge in 1981 and moving to Arkansas. The two shared a love of education, Razorback football,and traveling. She played the piano and had a keen eye for interior decorating and garden design. In addition, Louise spent years helping her parents at their floral shop and made beautiful wreaths and arrangements. It seemed as though everything Louise touched was made beautiful!
She attended the following universities, from which she earned B.S., M.A., and Specialist Ed.D. Degrees, respectively: Radford University in VA; Hampton University in VA; The College of William and Mary in VA; and The University of North Texas. Describing herself as “a lifelong learner who enjoys staying abreast of education research and practices,” she served as Assistant Professor at the University of Arkansas (1993-1998), Assistant Superintendent of Rogers Public Schools (1998-2005), and Principal of Bellview Elementary School in Rogers (2005-2010).
Louise is survived by her brother, Charles Norton; nephew, Jon Norton; niece, Meghan Crane;
stepson, Gray Standridge and daughter-in-law, Judi Standridge; stepdaughter, Rachel Standridge; and three grandchildren - Margaret Ann Standridge, Nathaniel Standridge and Ella Harlan. In addition, she is survived by Marsida Saraci and her family, who were dear to Louise’s heart and became family.
Louise also leaves behind her treasured friends at Seniors Helping Seniors, her church family at Central United Methodist Church, and her kindhearted and watchful neighbors.
The visitation will be held at 12pm at Central United Methodist Church in Rogers, AR., followed by a Celebration of Life service at 1pm on November 11, 2023.
In lieu of flowers, you may donate to a charity of your choice in Louise’s memory, but nothing would make her happier than a church full of flowers.
