

With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Dr. Marilyn Frances Kilby, 84, of Rogers, Arkansas. Marilyn was born on September 11, 1940, and passed away September 10, 2025, one day before what would have been her 85th birthday. Marilyn was born and raised in Mena, Arkansas to Otis and Oleeta Gillian, one of six children – three brothers and two sisters.
After graduating high school, Marilyn enlisted in the United States Air Force. Upon leaving the Air Force, Marilyn went on to earn multiple advanced degrees including a Master’s in Psychotherapy and a Doctor of Education.
In addition to opening her private practice in downtown Fayetteville, Arkansas, Marilyn worked with the Washington County Courts as an expert trial witness. She also authored multiple books on alcoholism and addiction and co-founded a drug and alcohol treatment program.
Even with her busy and successful professional life, Marilyn was actively involved in her church, and enjoyed crocheting, sewing, and cooking.
Marilyn is preceded in death by her parents, Otis and Oleeta Gillian; brother, Ed Gillian; husband, James Kilby; and daughter, Cassandra Dobbins. She is survived by her son, granddaughter, three grandsons, and multiple nieces and nephews.
