Martha was born October 13, 1930, in Mullinville, Kansas to Charles and Edith Lewis.
Martha “MiniMar” was many things in life, and adventurous was certainly one of them. She married her true love, Leroy Hendrix, on July 6, 1950, and they spent over 72 years together. They enjoyed many years of adventuring all over the states with lifelong friends in their motorhome, as well as collecting mementos along their various travels. She and Leroy also visited Bluegrass festivals and would camp many nights, listening to the music.
Martha worked alongside her husband Leroy for many years at the Springdale Morning News. She was also an excellent cook who perfected many recipes over the years and loved sharing them. Hosting all the family gatherings and holiday dinners, she could have fed an army if she had the chance. Martha had a green thumb and her yard was always decorated with many types of colorful plants and flowers. During Christmas, she transformed her home into something you would see in a Christmas movie, with decorations perfectly placed inside and outside of the home.
Martha is survived by her son, Dennis Hendrix; daughter, Sandra Peters; brother, Lee Lewis; sister, Jackie Sue (Art) Johnson; grandchildren, Shawn (Ra’Sha) Peters, Brian (Arial) Peters, Preston Hendrix, and Aaron (Lisa) Hendrix; and great-grandchildren, Jocelyn Hendrix, Harleigh Hendrix, and Lillian Wimmer.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Edith Lewis; brother, William Deric Lewis; two sisters-in-law, Doris Lewis and Martha “Fritz” Lewis; and daughter-in-law Barbara Hendrix.
