Mary Ann Dorcak 88, passed away peacefully on Sept 18 2025.

She was born in Negaunee MI and moved to Marquette on the shores of Lake Superior in the UP. Her father George Newman was lost in an iron ore mining accident during WWII when she was just 3 years old. Her high school years were split in Marquette and then in Detroit where she also attended Wayne State University. She met her husband Emil J. Dorcak at a dance in Detroit and they raised three sons, moving several times living in the Midwest.

Besides being a loving friend, wife and mother she loved the arts and began oil painting in the early 70's taking many classes and growing her art. She was awarded for many of her paintings and continued to paint during the rest of her years.

In the early 80's after raising her sons she went back to work and was quickly promoted to being the sales promotion director for Lincoln Benefit Life Insurance in Lincoln Ne. She was passionate about her work and got the opportunity to work on setting up conventions for the agents and officers of the company where she got to travel the world.

She was her husband’s caregiver ignoring her own health issues during his last few years. She is preceded in death by her husband Emil J. Dorcak and her son Joseph A. Dorcak.

She is survived by her sons Paul J. Dorcak and Curt B. Dorcak.
