

Melvin Duane “Doc” O’Connor, son of Melvin C. O’Connor and Mary Margaret Parrish O’Connor was born August 30, 1937 on a farm in Cass Township, Hamilton County, Iowa north of Webster City, Iowa. Grandparents are Charley and Mabel Segar O’Connor and Lyman and Flora Segar Parrish.
He attended school in Eagle Grove, Iowa and Freedom #1 Country School in Hamilton County, Iowa. He graduated from Webster City, Iowa High School in 1955 and attended Iowa State College in Ames.
Doc was employed at Jensen Rexall Drug, Weber Auto Parts, and Christenson Motor Sales, all of Webster City, Iowa.
On January 19, 1958, Doc married Esther Rairdin at the Evangelical United Brethren Church in Webster City, Iowa. From March 1960 until March 1966, he served with the 133 ACW Flight Iowa Air National Guard in Fort Dodge, Iowa.
Doc moved to Rogers, Arkansas in March 1987. He was employed by Hart Motor Company, Nelms Chevrolet, and retired January 31, 2008 from Fayetteville Auto Park.
Doc was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Rogers.
He is survived by wife, Esther; children, Kelly Chalfant (Rob) and Melissa Keller (Chris); grandchildren, Amanda Reed (Brandon), Cody Chalfant, Ashley Keller, and Jace Keller; great-grandchildren, Collin Slocum and Jasmine Reed; sister, Patricia Mills (Bill) of Manning, Iowa; and several nieces and nephews.
