He was born on April 10, 1957, and leaves behind a life filled with faith, music, adventure, and cherished memories that will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
Mike had a deep love for music. He was an accomplished guitar player and gifted singer who shared his beautiful voice as a member of several gospel groups throughout his life. Music was one of the many ways Mike expressed his heart and his faith.
His adventurous spirit led him to become an accomplished luxury boat tour captain in the beautiful Virgin Islands, where he found joy in the sea and the freedom of life on the water.
Of all the things Mike loved, perhaps nothing was more precious to him than his relationship with the Lord. Mike was saved at a young age and grew up in church. Later in life, he rekindled and deepened his relationship with the Lord, spending many treasured hours in Bible study and listening to praise and worship music. One of his greatest joys was watching the sunrise from the hot tub while spending quiet time with the Lord. Mike carried a deep assurance in his heart that heaven would one day be his eternal home.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Norma Ussery, and his brother, Rev. Geary Ussery.
He is survived by his loving wife, Pamela Huskey-Ussery; his mother-in-law, Kathryn “Honey” Gerle; and his sister, Sherry Ussery-McIntyre, all of Bentonville, Arkansas.
He is also survived by his four children: Kristin Wilkins (Brad Wilkins) of Ozark, Missouri; Justin Ussery (Brenda Ussery) of Bois D’Arc, Missouri; Donovan Oquendo of Bois D’Arc, Missouri; and Kari Wilkerson (Anthony Wilkerson) of Bois D’Arc, Missouri; his sister-in-law, Rev. Gerry Ussery of Scottsbluff, Nebraska; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Though he will be greatly missed, those who loved Mike find comfort in knowing that he is now home with the Lord he loved so dearly.
