Olen J. Webb, 91, of Rogers, AR, formerly of Bentonville, AR, died on Thursday, March 24, 2011, at the Circle of Life Hospice in Springdale, AR. He was born on May 31, 1919, in Pea Ridge, AR to Ernest and Pearl Webb.
He was a member of the First Christian Church Disciples of Christ in Rogers, a 30 year member and Past President of the Bentonville Kiwanis Club, President of the Benton County 4-H Foundation for 24 years, served 42 years on the Benton County Fair Board, and a member of the Bentonville Chamber of Commerce and BPOE #2144 Lodge.
He was a decorated WWII veteran, serving as an Army Tech Sergeant in a Combat Engineering Battalion. He retired from Kraft Foods after 33 years of service.
He was an avid gardener, loved fishing and camping on Beaver Lake, hunting, traveling, and supporting the Razorbacks in all sports.
Olen was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Etta Webb, his brother Mitchell Webb and one sister Ora Wood.
He is survived by his wife, Joan Carmichael Webb, whom he married Dec. 17, 1995; one son, Mike Webb and wife Leona; and daughter Cindy Compton Tomlin of Bentonville, and daughter Suzanne Middleton and husband Tom of Mtn. Home, one stepson, Buddy Carmichael and wife Connie of Collierville, TN, two step-daughters: Sheryl Mabry and husband Lindell of Rogers; and Pam Simpson and Joe Fletcher of Hiwasse. Six grandchildren: Kayla Middleton and husband Rick of Mtn. Home; Todd Webb and wife Jenny; Jim Webb and wife Kellie; Drew Compton and Katy Compton all of Bentonville, and Aaron Webb and wife Shannon of Bella Vista. Seven step-grandchildren: Todd Carmichael, Michelle Verser and husband Jason, Russlyn Mabry all of Rogers, Tammy Santibanez and husband Manny of Germantown, TN, Ashley Camplain and husband Brent of Maumelle, AR, Megan Johnston and husband Mike of Lakeland, TN, and Nichole Simpson of Fayetteville, AR. Seven great-grandchildren and six step-great-grandchildren. One sister, Mary Lou Rakes and husband Richard, San Antonio, TX, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Sunday, March 27, 2011, at First Christian Church Disciples of Christ, Rogers, with Rev. Shawn Wallace officiating. Burial will follow at Oakley Chapel Cemetery, Rogers.
Visitation will be 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Saturday, March 26, 2011, at Rollins Funeral Home, Rogers.
