Deputy Rozelyn Grant-Powell, 55, passed away on July 10, 2021 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born on September 15, 1965 in South Bronx, New York. She was the best friend and wife of Dep. Ron Powell for 16 years.
Roz worked as a deputy sheriff at the Benton County Jail for more than 16 years. She was a dedicated worker and always treated you fairly. When she trained people, she did it with skill and care, never making trainees feel inadequate but encouraged them as they learned.
Roz was an endearing person, who could always make you feel at home. She was the neighborhood mom and caregiver. She had the biggest heart, and loved to make you laugh. She was quite gifted at that. She was a free spirit who said what came to mind. She was commonly known as the Beast Master/Dog Whisperer. She loved her dogs, Harley, Dipstick, Lucas, and Sadie (her first dog who passed away).
She had the personality of Lucy Ball and would watch “I Love Lucy” religiously. Another of her many skills was her ability to nickname people. You always knew who she was talking about.
Rozelyn is survived by her husband, Dep. Ron Powell of Centerton; mother, Mary Martinez of Florida; son, Darrell “DJ” Grant and partner, Deric Etherton of Springdale; daughter, Heather Grant of Connecticut; sister Yvonne Clark of Florida; and 2 grandchildren, Tyler Grant, and Maison Laughter.
A Celebration of her Life will be on Friday, July 16, 2021 at 11am in Rollins Funeral Home Chapel, Rogers.
After service gathering will be held from 2pm - 6pm with the family at the Centerton City Hall, 290 N Main St., Centerton, AR 72719.
