Shirley Ann Sawyer-May was born on November 19, 1939, in Cotton Plant, Arkansas. She was the oldest of 3 siblings, Janice, Dennis, and Linda who were born to Ermarie (Reneau) and William Swinney. Her dad was her hero who she looked up to. After she grew up, she started to work in the Chicago loop and where she met her first husband, Larry Wayne Sawyer at Grace Baptist church. Soon after they got married and had four children, 3 girls and 1 boy. Their names are Sharon, Karen, Debbie, and Larry and she loved them dearly. She enjoyed sewing and crafting. She made lots of clothes for her kids and decorated their home with the crafts she made. The kids loved it when she would bake treats for them after school. Time went on and sadly Larry passed, but God blessed her with a second husband, William May. They met while her friend Jerri and her were out dancing. They were married and went on lots of trips together!! They went skiing in Colorado, and swimming at the beach in Hawaii and enjoyed going to church together and worshiping the Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. They really enjoyed being together and adventuring when they could. She loved both her husbands so much.
In addition to her parents and both husbands, Shirley was preceded in death by her brother and sister, Dennis Edward Swinney and Janice Marie Parnell.
She is survived by her children, Sharon Boone (Rick), Karen Sigler (Mark), Debra Ann Lewis (Duane), Larry Sawyer; sister, Linda Turbough; and her beloved grandbabies, David Boone, Bryan Boone, Duane Lewis, Jr., Terra Lynn Moore, Andrew Lewis, Rebecca Marie Sawyer and Gabriel Wayne Sawyer; 13 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandbaby with another on the way.
