Anna was always involved in Garden Lakes Baptist Church, as a child. She always participated in Vacation Bible School, church camps, Summer Activities and made lifelong friends that loved her from a young age. She took ballet for years and also played basketball.
Anna has always loved music and first played the clarinet and participated in Chorus at school. She decided later in high school that she wanted to learn to play drums, and play drums she DID! She first began participating in Marching Band for the Coosa Eagles in 9th grade. She began drumming with the Bass drum. She played Snare drum and was also Drumline Section Leader for both her junior & senior years and was the drummer in the Jazz Band. She also loved her ukelele, guitalele and tried songs on her guitar, however, she wouldn't play these much in front of anyone; she even sang and had the voice of a songbird, but did not enjoy an audience. If you wanted to hear her sing, you had to stand outside her bedroom doorway, without her knowing you were there.
Anna participated in the Coosa High School Winterguard for her 8th & 9th grade years and although she loved it, she loved band more and wanted to devote her time to being the best at drumming.
As Anna grew into a teenager, she was very involved in Northside Church. Anna played drums, bongos, congos and the cajone in the worship band. All of the Worship & Praise team loved her and it was a joy to watch her play.
Anna was technically a Freshman at Mercer University @ Macon Georgia, however, she far exceeded freshman status due to her hard work & dedication during high School. She began her College career at Mercer with 41 college credits, due to all of her hard work and dual enrollment classes. She started off her college career taking sophomore & junior classes. She had originally planned to pursue Criminal Justice; then decided on Pharmacology; but had recently decided on going back to something relating to Criminal Justice or even Law.
Anna was always a friend to all. She adored all of her friends. Anyone who met her, always left her presence feeling better for having met her. Anna nurtured her family relationships and her friendships with the tenacity of a Lioness. If she ever thought she had hurt anyones feelings, she couldn't rest until she had mended the feelings and made everything right. When having a conversation with her, she made you feel like the most important person in the world; and for that moment, you WERE the most important person in HER world. This characteristic is hard to find in todays society, much less in a 19 year old.
Anna's love & devotion to her friends also extended to ALL animals. She was an avid animal lover. Had it been up to her, we would've had a house full of dogs/cats and/or any other stray that needed a home. She adored her dog Honey and still grieved the loss of her kindred dog spirit Hank (he was her hair color and white & covered in freckles, too). She adored and spoiled our dogs Harley & Heidi and they adored her and will miss her fiercely.
We grieve her loss incredibly because she had a bright future ahead of her and her absence will be a devastating gap for all of us forever. However, she would want us all to be happy. She would console each of us, if it were possible. She would want us all to stay close, be kind to each other and continue to be together, keep in touch and to love each other in remembrance of her.
Anna was predeceased by her mother, Heather Chesnut in 2004 and her infant sister, Jami Alexandra Espy in 2003.
She leaves to cherish her memories: her daddy, Mark Espy. Her paternal grandmother Judy Espy; Matt & Bonnie Lloyd; siblings Zach Chesnut (Emily), Sara Pass (Cory), Mari Brennan (Matt), Leah Brennan (Cathy), Rachel Cordle (Dusty), Summer Jones; Grandparents, Art & Gayle Crawford; Grandparents, Dean & Heden Stephens; Nephew, Lleyton Cordle; Nieces, Norah Cordle & Elliot Pass; Great Aunt Joyce Espy Griffies; Cousin Kayla Wheelock (Tyler) & their daughter McKenna Pasley. Other aunts, uncles, cousins also survive
We would like to ask that the Coosa High School class of 2020 be her honorary pallbearers, also her bandmates/best friends, no matter their grade and all of her dear friends from Mercer.
A memorial service will be conducted at Northside Church on Saturday, January 16th, 2021 at 1pm. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 11am until 1pm at the church. Social distancing will be practiced and facemask are mandatory.
