
She was born on July 11, 1933 at the McCall Hospital in Rome, Georgia. The daughter of the late Arthur Franklin West and Rebekah Williams Watters West, she attended Model High School and graduated from Rome Girls High in 1951. She earned a degree in Elementary Education from the University of Georgia and taught Fourth Grade at Model Elementary School.
Married to William Franklin “Frank” Barron for 58 years with whom she traveled to beautiful places, enjoyed many fine meals and wonderful adventures. She was a member of The Junior Service League, Colonial Dames and served for several years on the Advisory Board of the Horchaw Company in Dallas, Texas.
A very fine chef, dinner was her day’s finest hour. Always the consummate host she set the bar for proper table settings and meal time decorum. Dressed and adorned beautifully always she epitomized the fine southern woman. A needle pointer with no peer, she created many needle point treasures for her family, friends and churches. In her day she paddled some very fine white water rivers and throughout her life loved a good picnic, preferably beside a North Georgia mountain stream.
Some of her happiest times were spent walking the sands of Ponte Vedra Beach Florida in search of sharks teeth and shells which she found in great quantities. For Anne life was centered around the home and family. Known fondly as “Pie” she adored her five granddaughters.
She was a lifelong member of Rome First United Methodist Church where she owned her seat in the third pew from the back on the left.
She is survived her husband William Franklin Barron Jr.; her children William Franklin Barron III (Lynne), Rebekah Barron Montgomery (Joe); Grandchildren, Mary Sue Barron, Rebekah Anne Parker (Daniel), Mary Elizabeth Montgomery, Emily Alexandra Barron and Hannah Lee Montgomery.
Services were held on Tuesday, August 11, 2015 at 11 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church, Rome, with Dr. Robert Brown and Dr. Joel Snider officiating.
The family received friends following the memorial service on Tuesday in the Wilder Center of the First United Methodist Church.
