April was born on February 13, 1970 to parents Larry Edwin Tate and Ella Jean (Pettyjohn) Tate in Rome, Georgia. After April graduated from Coosa High School in 1988, she went on to study the field of nursing at Georgia Highlands. After completing her Associate’s Degree, she continued her education and received a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing at Chamberlain University. Nursing was April’s greatest mission in life, and she began her lifelong career in geriatric nursing care at River Landing. Her competitive nature drove her to reach forward throughout her career, and throughout her travels between Georgia, Ohio, and Iowa, she always sought to provide the best possible care to the geriatric patients under her charge. In highschool, April met and later married Robert Gibbs. They shared a daughter, Brianna Paige Gibbs, born May 18, 1990. She later married Timothy Parker, having a son, Chase Kendall Parker, on December 5, 1994. April was an avid fan of the Georgia Bulldogs but was flexible enough to allow an Auburn fan into the family when her daughter, Brianna, met and married her son-in-law, Conrad. Brianna and Conrad were the first to make April a proud grandmother, bringing Amaya Elaine Bartlett into the world on December 25, 2010. Her daughter also gifted her with two boys, Jaxon Conrad Bartlett and Killian Cash Bartlett, born February 10, 2015 and August 15, 2016. April was a loving grandmother, who took great joy in spending time with her grandchildren while living in Iowa near her daughter. Thankfully, her son Chase chose a better football fan when marrying his wife, Halie. With the new addition of Halie to the family, April also gained a new granddaughter, Aubrey Jo Reese, born December 13, 2011. Later, the couple also welcomed Alivia Charlee Parker born June 27, 2018. April truly cherished the time she was able to spend with her grandchildren while living in Georgia.
April was predeceased by her brother Chad Tate, her sister, Cristin Tate, her grandfathers Boyd Tate, Vollie Lawrence Spratling (VL) and Alfred Pettyjohn, her grandmothers Mary Tate, Annie Mae Spratling and Mable Pettyjohn, her aunt and uncle Betty and Aaron Stoner, her aunt Joyce Watters. She is survived by her mother, Jean, her father, Larry, her daughter, Brianna, her son, Chase, her stepmother Beverly, her in-laws, Conrad and Halie, her grandchildren, Amaya, JoJo, Jaxon, Killian, and Charlie as well as many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
A Graveside service will be held at Floyd Memory Gardens on Monday, December 5, 2022 at 11 a.m.
