
Mr. Hyde was born November 12, 1928 in Sheffield, AL, the son of the late Walter Clinton Hyde and Nell Cramer Hyde. He served in the Naval Reserve and was then drafted into the Army during the Korean Conflict where he specialized in Morse code. Charles married the former JoAnn Snipes in 1951, and they celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary on January 14, 2014. Mr. Hyde was preceded in death by two brothers, Walter C. Hyde, Jr. and James F. Hyde; two sisters, Dorothy Hollister and Helen Cadem; brothers-in-law, Hector Hollister and Gene French.
Survivors include his wife, JoAnn Snipes Hyde; two daughters, Judy Hyde Allen and her husband, Lamar of Rome, Cindy Hyde Peck and her husband, Ed of Santa Fe, NM; one son, Charles “Chuck” Hyde, II of Anderson, SC; grandchildren, Justin Allen and his wife, Jennifer of Carrollton, GA, Lauren Allen of Denver, CO, Kristy Hyde of Greenville, SC, Charles “Cramer” Hyde, III of Birmingham, AL and Lily Rose Peck of New York, NY; great-grandchildren, Carter and Julia Allen of Carrollton, GA and Justice Hyde of Greenville, SC; sister, Kathryn French and husband, Ron of Hammel of Ft. Meyers, FL; brother, Robert C. Hyde (Kenny) of Grapevine, TX. Sister-in-law, Sharon Hyde of Charleston, SC, ten nieces and nephews; eighteen great-nieces and nephews, and three great-great nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at a later date and in lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that contributions be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, Georgia Chapter, 41 Perimeter Center East, Suite 550, Atlanta GA 30346, Attn: Dave Houston, VP of Development.
