Clyde R. Davis

Mr. Davis was born in Cedartown on October 24, 1920, the son of the late Relas Frank and Mary Davis, and graduated from Birmingham, AL schools. After serving in the Army, he worked for The Life of Georgia where he met and married Sara Rush. The couple founded Davis Realty Company and Clyde R. Davis Builders. He also started a development company, N.R. S. Properties, in the early sixties and went on to develop and build parts of Fair Oaks, Briarwood, Berkshire Estates, Saddle Mountain, Twickenham Estates and Hampton East before retiring. He also built and managed the Regency Apartments and various other rental properties in and around Rome.

Mr. Davis was preceded in death by his wife, Sara Rush Davis, on March 24, 2007. He is survived by three children: Nancy Davis McDonald, Birmingham, AL, Clyde Randy Davis and Susan Davis Elam, both of Rome; six grandchildren: Johnna M. McDonald, Los Angeles, CA, Lindsay McDonald DiTullo, Birmingham, AL, Cullen Elam, Hoover, AL, Neely Davis Thornton, Acworth, and Trent Davis and Lance Elam, both of Rome; and one great grandchild, Hayden Davis McDonald.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Oct. 20, 2010, at the graveside at 11 a.m. in Sunset Hill Memorial Gardens, Rome. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, Oct. 19, from 6 until 8 p.m. at the residence, 400 Pheasant Run.
