Born on February 20 , 1934 in Joplin, Missouri to Frank A. and Maxine Gamble Shadday. He served four years as a paratrooper in the U.S. Army. In 1960, he received a bachelors’degree in business from Northwestern University in Chicago, where he met his wife of 54 years, Diana Eaton Shadday.
After working as Vice President of Marketing for World Wide Volkswagen in New York, he followed his entrepreneurial spirit and opened an auto dealership. In 1976, he moved with his family to Rome, Georgia and started D&D Oil Company with his brother, David Shadday. For the next 20 years, he managed a successful business with his brother and son, Jarrett Shadday, before retiring in 1996.
He was an active and longtime member of the Coosa Country Club in Rome Georgia and the Bald Head Island Country Club in North Carolina. He was known for playing a mean game of gin and winning several golf tournaments.
A member of the Rome Presbyterian Church, he had a strong faith and trust in God.
Of all his life accomplishments, his most important role was that of a loving and devoted son, husband, father, grandfather and dog owner.
Dan is survived and dearly missed by his wife, Diana Eaton Shadday; his daughter, Allison Ann Shadday; his son, Jarrett Eaton Shadday, his son-in-law Sven Haarhoff; daughter-in-law, Holly Shadday, and his grandchildren: Jay, Jacquelyn, Gamble, Mary Marshall and Evie Shadday ,His nephew brad shadday and his wife christy and their son's Tanner and Spencer. He is predeceased by his brother, David Adkinson Shadday.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Dr. Joseph Herron and all the medical professionals who cared for Mr. Shadday.

The family received friends Wednesday July 15th from 4-6pm at the King Hall/Christian Life Center at First Presbyterian Church in Rome, Georgia.
A private memorial service and celebration of life will be held in the Fall in Bald Head Island N.C.
He will remembered for his kindness.
