I did not know Mr. Unsworth, or, his loving, wise family. I wish I had, though, because of the in lieu of flowers request that was made in the obiturary, "or to the campaign of whoever is running against President Barack Obama in 2012." This is a great obituary and I WILL MAKE THAT REQUESTED DONATION! OMG! (Obama Must Go)

You have my deepest sympathy for the loss of Mr.Donald Unsworth. I know how painful it is to lose your dad. My dad passed away in 2002 and I'm thankful he did not live to see the sad state of affairs our country is in today. It seems that those who experienced the Great Depression and World War II were graced with such character traits as pride, patriotism, ethics and fortitude, which is sadly lacking today. May God bless you and your family for being forthright in presenting Mr. Unsworth's political position and for your honorable and noble request. Hopefully the request will be fruitful in creating the changes we desperately need so we may commemorate anew and give humble thanks for this great heritage - America. May you be uplifted in prayer and be comforted and blessed with loving memories of your loved one.

I cannot imagine losing my father, even though as I write this he is in a nursing facility following hip replacement surgery. When my mom sent me an email which included the wishes of Mr. Unsworth regarding the political campaign, I thought "no, not really" so I looked it up. Here it is. I am so very blessed by you, his family, for making sure he still has a voice in this next election. I agree with Mr. Unsworth wholeheartedly and intend to make a note to my family for the same expression should something happen to me before 11/12. God bless you as you undergo the changes you have had to make in the last year and may He bless you with loving memories of Mr. Unsworth. Wish I knew more people like he must have been. I'll continue to lift your family up in prayers. Blessings! Vickie

To the family of, Mr. Donald Charles Unsworth, I did not personally know your beloved, but, I already know that he was a great American, and, in keeping with your wish, I will donate money to the opposition of Barrack Obama. His generation is what made America, great, and even in death, he is still working towards keeping America, great. My own Aunt is 86 years old and she has said many times since the election of Obama that she is glad that her time here on earth is limited as it breaks her heart what this country has come to. It is with great honor, that I honor your loved one towards this very worthy cause. "Rest in Eternal Peace, Mr. Unsworth. I won't forget you." In deepest sympathy, Gaylyn Shay, Albany, OR

News of your loved one's passing was sent to me from a friend. I think he knew I would want to honor the family's request regarding memorial contributions. Although I am a cancer survivor, and I will send a donation there as well, I will most assuredly send a substantial one to the candidate's campaign who runs against President Barack Obama in Mr. Unsworth's name! even though we never met to honor his memory. My father was born in and spent the first several years of his early life in Rome before moving to Gadsden (Ala.), where I was born and grew up. My condolences for your loss. It sounds as though he was a genuine Southern Gentleman.

And most importantly in this day and age in America's history with this last request:
The family respectfully asked in lieu of flowers that memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society or to the campaign of whoever is running against President Barack Obama in 2012.

Bobbie, Honey, Tracey, Donna, and Carter,
How pleased you must be at the outpouring of sentiment at the passing of your husband and father. Like you, my father owned and operated a hardware store and spent his time in customer and community service. He passed just last month. Like Don, he was a part of a generation great Americans and a veteran (Navy). How proud of true patriots we are. We are grateful for those who sacrificed to preserve this great nation and defend it against enemies without and within. Moved by Don’s life, I am honored to do what I can to fulfill Don's final wishes that we donate to those who fight Obama. Thanks for your service and may God’s blessings attend you and comfort you.

My sincerest condolences to the family on the loss of Mr. Unsworth. He, like my father who is a young 98, typified the Americans who comprise the backbone of our country by their military service, integrity, and adherence to principle in spite of those who may try to undermine them. I will think of Mr. Unsworth as my husband and I cast our ballots for whomever opposes Obama in that election. Kudos to Mr. and Mrs. Unsworth for raising four children who were undoubtedly influenced by such a good American.

September 25, 2010
Clearly Donald Unsworth was a patriot intent on protecting others for his entire life, and beyond as well.
As a member of our armed forces, a police officer, and even operating a driving school business that one would imagine surely saved more than one new driver from an accident.
Several people had forwarded the notice to me, and rest assured, like so many others have stated I too will strive to help the current occupant of the White House to relocate in January of 2013.
I represent the 16th district of the Connecticut Republican State Committee and am confident I speak for the entire committee when I offer our most sincere sympathy to his family and be assured he will be remembered at our next meeting this coming Tuesday the 28th.

My thoughts are with the Unsworth family. They are terrific people. Mr. Unsworth was a tough teacher, but decades later, I still remember my driving lessons. God's blessings to his family.

Dear Bobbie, Carter, Honey, and Family, I read the newspaper column too late to visit. However, my heart is with you. I was so close to my dad, and he left us far too young. My prayers are that the Lord will comfort you, and help you to find your way forward. I'm here if you need someone to talk too. Deborah Adair

My prayers are with your family. Your dad's class was the most innovative one we ever had. What a cool guy even in 1967.

I never got to meet Mr. Unsworth, but his record of service to his community, state, and nation are commendable and the direction of memorial gifts tells me that he was my kind of guy! May God's grace comfort all of you at this time.

Donna and Honey, my prayers go out to you and the family. Your Dad was the greatest! He had the perfect tool set to control unruly 15/16 years olds and the wit and patience to cajole us into learning and becoming great drivers! He will be missed on earth, but very much alive in our thoughts! Linda Kennedy Johansson

My love and sympathy to the family. He will be remembered SO fondly as Driver Ed instructor by all but especially me who wasn't able to learn to drive until I was enrolled in his class. He made it seem so easy and am proud to say in all my years of driving I never so much as got a parking ticket !!
Thank you, Mr. Unsworth. I am so sorry to hear of your passing.
