

Born on May 13, 1953, in Tifton, Georgia, Donna was the daughter of the late Seymour and Mary Owens. A lifelong learner, she graduated from the Medical College of Georgia with a B.S. in Medical Technology and later earned a master’s in biology from the University of West Georgia.
Donna’s distinguished career in science education spanned decades, culminating in her retirement from Georgia Highlands College as the Dean of Natural Sciences and Physical Education. Her dedication to her students and her field left a lasting legacy on the campus and the community.
Known for her vibrant personality and "social butterfly" spirit, Donna was a proud member of the Thistle Garden Club and the Rome Junior Service League. She was an avid reader and gardener with a love for all things related to frogs. She enjoyed spending time with her family at Lake Sinclair and the beach. She is survived by her devoted husband of 47 years, Howard F. Daugherty; her daughter, Lindsey Daugherty Kirn (Patrick); her son, Howard “Ward” Daugherty Jr. (Haley); and five grandchildren: Avery Daugherty, Connor Kirn, Collin Kirn, Cooper Daugherty, and Caden Kirn. She is also survived by her brothers, Sanford Owens (Kellan) and Rodney Owens (Karen).

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 26, 2026 at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of Daniel's Funeral Home with Pastor Brandon Furr officiating. The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 26, 2026, from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm. Interment will follow the service at Floyd Memory Gardens.
