Dudley Boston Magruder III

Bruce was born November 24, 1945, in Augusta, Georgia, to Dudley B. Magruder Jr. and Evelyn Bates Magruder.

Bruce had a lifelong love of adventure and learning. He was a pilot and flight instructor, and teaching became much more than a profession for him. Bruce loved to teach. Whether he was instructing someone to fly or simply showing someone how to do something, he enjoyed sharing what he knew. He was a patient and knowledgeable teacher who took genuine pleasure in helping others learn.

His love of adventure extended beyond aviation. Bruce loved sailing, and he enjoyed the freedom, challenge, and adventure that came with being on the water.

Bruce was also a competitive man who enjoyed a good challenge. He loved golf and particularly enjoyed competing in club tournaments. Competition was something he embraced—not simply for the sake of winning, but because he enjoyed the challenge and the camaraderie that came with it.

Above all, Bruce loved people. He never met a stranger. He had a natural ability to meet someone and make a connection, whether they were an old friend or someone he had just met. He loved hearing people's stories, meeting new people, and helping whenever he could. His willingness to share his time, knowledge, and experience with others was one of the qualities that defined him.

Bruce is survived by his wife, Suzan; his children, Dudley B. Magruder IV and Neely Vaughn; and his sibling, Tiff Magruder.

He was preceded in death by his children, Bonnie Brewster and David M. Blair, and his sister, Dianne Cumming.

Services will be conducted on October 10, with the social and reflection starting at 1pm, and the service at or around 1:30. Services will be held at Kresge Methodist Church 15 Boogar Hollow Rd, Cedartown, GA.

Bruce will be remembered for his adventurous spirit, his competitive nature, his love of flying and sailing, and especially his willingness to teach and help others. Most of all, he will be remembered as a man who never met a stranger and who made connections with people wherever life took him.
