

Mrs. Cook was preceded in death by her husband, Lt. Col. Donald Edward Cook, U.S. Army, Ret., of Madison, Alabama; and her two sisters, Barbara David Ivey of Rome, Georgia, and Jonnie David Holbrook of Cartersville, Georgia.
Survivors include her nieces and nephews, Bo Ivey (Kim), Clair Ivey Ford, David Ivey (Lori), Jennie Southerland, John Holbrook (Heather), and Jamey Holbrook (Melissa); fifteen great-nieces and nephews, Ric Long (Michelle), Beth Rogers, Courtney Cescutti (Blake), Lindsey Bowers (Craig), Stevie Ivey, Nicki Ivey, Bridget Ivey, Jared Ivey, Emma Ivey, Jake Southerland, Justin Southerland, Andrew Holbrook, Lauren Holbrook, Cameron Holbrook, and Audrey Holbrook; and five great-great-niece and nephews, Owen Rogers, Julia Rogers, Bennett Cescutti, Levi Bowers, and Cooper Bowers; and her beloved David and Hulgan cousins.
Mrs. Cook was born Clara Margaret David and later legally changed her name to e’Claire. She attended Rome High School before moving to Warner Robins, where she attended Warner Robins High School and graduated in 1956. In 1959, she married NASA engineer James Richard Bathurst, Jr., and resided in Huntsville, Alabama. She later married David L. (Dea) Thomas of Huntsville, Alabama.
Throughout her career, she enjoyed working in sales and administration. She had a deep passion for counseling others in need and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in sociology from the University of Alabama in 1992 to further that calling. Her interests and hobbies included bridge, ballroom dancing, and antiquing. She especially cherished her time as a homemaker and travel companion.
In her later years, Mrs. Cook moved to Rome, Georgia, and resided at a retirement community, where she enjoyed making friends and participating in group activities. She also cherished the relationships she had with her many caregivers.
She will be remembered with love for her grace, devotion to family, and the lasting kindness she shared with those who knew her.
