

Clara “Emily”Davis Saltino, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, friend, and community leader, passed away surrounded by the love of family and friends.
Her life was marked by grace, service, faith, and an extraordinary gift for making everyone she met feel valued and loved.
Born on October 24, 1940, Emily was the daughter of Clara Browne Davis and John Shannon Davis.
She was raised in Rome, Georgia, where she attended St. Mary's Elementary School and graduated from Rome High School. She continued her education at West Georgia College, where she developed the confidence and determination that would shape her many accomplishments throughout life.
On May 23, 1964, Emily married the love of her life, Thomas J Saltino Jr. Together they built a beautiful life centered on family, faith, and service to their community.
Emily is survived by her husband, Thomas J. Saltino Jr.; her son, Thomas J. Saltino III (Amanda); her daughter, Jill Saltino Graham (Mat),her four cherished grandchildren, Davis Graham, Clara Graham, Joseph Saltino, and John Saltino and her nieces, Alison Davis Dillen and Lisa Davis Odom. She also leaves behind her loving rescue dog, Sara, who brought her great joy and companionship.
She is preceded in death by her brother, Johnny E Davis.
Following her graduation from West Georgia College, Emily began her professional career at The Georgia Capitol. During that time, her beauty and poise led to opportunities when Sal Kent discovered her and asked her to model for Rich's Department Store. While she enjoyed these early professional experiences, her most treasured role began in 1969 with the birth of her son, Thomas, followed two years later by the birth of her daughter, Jill. Being a mother was her greatest joy and proudest accomplishment.
Throughout her life, Emily embraced numerous professional and volunteer leadership roles.
Her careers included serving as
Director of the Northwest Georgia Girl Scout Council, Museum Director of The Rome Area History Museum, and Vice President and Head of Fund Development for Murphy-Harpst Children's Home.
In each role, she brought enthusiasm, compassion, and a tireless commitment to helping others.
Emily was deeply devoted to her faith and was a longtime member of First United Methodist Church.
She actively participated in her Sunday School class and found great fulfillment in teaching Sunday School to young people, sharing her faith and love with future generations.
Her dedication to her community was equally remarkable. Emily was an active member of The Seven Hills Garden Club and made history as the first woman president of the Rome Rotary Club, paving the way for future generations of women leaders.
Those who knew Emily will remember her elegance, warmth, generosity, and genuine interest in others. She possessed a rare and undeniable talent for making people feel loved, welcomed, and important. Whether through her volunteer work, professional accomplishments, church involvement, or simply a thoughtful conversation, Emily left an enduring impact on countless lives.
Her legacy lives on through her family, her friends, and the many individuals whose lives she touched with her kindness, faith, and unwavering love.
She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, at 11:00 am at First United Methodist Church of Rome with Rev. Gil Watson officiating. A private family interment will follow the service at Myrtle Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Monday, June 8, 2026, at Daniel’s Funeral Home from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm.
