Emily Bump Smith

Mrs. Smith was born April 22, 1923, in Guilford, NY, the daughter of the late William Harvey Bump ands Mildred Marble Bump. She was married to Malcolm Frank Smith on June 16, 1945, and was preceded in death by him on June 4, 2011. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Richard Harvey Bump.

Mrs. Smith was a homemaker, loving wife , mother and grandmother. She was one of the founding members of the Westminster Presbyterian Church, taught Sunday School and was active in the Women of the Church. She loved to cook and bake.

Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Jackie (Bob) Turpin, Rome, and Joanne (Jerry) Edmonds, Rome; one son and daughter-in-law, Jeff (Tara) Smith, Rome; grandchildren, Robert (Taleah) Turpin II, Lori (Burt) Jackson, Tiffany and Emily Meagan Edmonds, and Joshua and Dustin (Ashley) Smith; great grandchildren, Jordan Parrish, Gavin and Noah Turpin, and Dalton and Mikaela Jackson; sisters, Shirley B. Sullivan and Marilyn (Fred) B. Heath; and a sister-in-law, Polly Bump.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, October 4, 2011, at 11 a.m. at the graveside in the Oaknoll Memorial Gardens, Rome, with the Rev. Tom Wood officiating. Pallbearers were Jeff, Josh and Dustin Smith, Jerry Edmonds, and Bob and Bobby Turpin.
