
Mrs. Butler was born Sept 9, 1916 in Cedartown, GA. She was the daughter of the late James E. Moore and Fannie Magnolia Cooper Moore. Emma was the wife of the late Harry J. Butler, Sr., who was in real estate development and had a land auction company for many years preceding his death. She continued an active interest in real estate after her husband's death. Emma Dean was active in her community and her church. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Rome and Fidelis Sunday School Class for over fifty years; she loved her church, her class, and her Lord. She was a past member of the Coosa Country Club, the Symphony Women's Group, and the Town and Country Garden Club, having served the garden club as Past President. She was a member of several bridge groups.
Emma Dean was named Ambassador at Large by President Jimmy Carter and traveled to Japan and Spain for the United States as a good will ambassador, speaking to many groups in this role. Her life was blessed by the many friends that she made through the 95 years of her life. In her last years she was lovingly attended by the wonderful caregivers at Right At Home. She was last attended by Jean Wildermoth, Diane Dowdy, Susie Brannon, and Pam Odette.
She is survived by three children: daughters, Pat Anderegg of Augusta, Georgia, Carol Inman of Calhoun, Georgia and one son, Harry J. Butler, Jr. of Georgetown, South Carolina. Her life was blessed with daughter-in-law, Beckie Butler, and sons- in-law, Dick Inman, and Jim Anderegg, and with nine married grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, Feb 26th at First Baptist Church in Rome at 2 p.m. in the sanctuary with Dr. Joel Snider and Dr. Floyd Roebuck officiating. Interment will be in the Oaknoll Memorial Gardens.
Visitation for family and friends will be held at Daniel’s Funeral Home on Saturday, Feb. 25th from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m.
