
Mr. Leslie was born in Lubec, Maine, on January 6, 1921. He was the son of the late Franklin Leslie and Nellie Mae Leslie. Mr. Leslie grew up in Lubec, Maine, and served in the United States Coast Guard during World War II. After the war, he resided in Jacksonville, Florida, and was employed as an Industrial Engineering Technician at Jacksonville Naval Air Station. He was active in Jacksonville Navy Credit Union for many years and served as president. He was an active member of St. Matthews Catholic Church and served as a Eucharistic Minister. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed fishing.
Mr. Leslie is survived by his two daughters, Dorothy L. Reese (Sam), of Rome, and Gail R. Leslie, of Phenix City, Alabama; three grandchildren, Tasha Reese Shaw (Chuck) of Rome, Bryan Leslie Reese (Jilly), of Newnan, Georgia, and Tiffany Reese Langille (Ryan), of Chicago, Illinois; eight great grandchildren, Abigail Shaw, Anna and Charlie Shaw, Penelope Reese, Jack Reese, Beau Reese, Stella Langille and Owen Langille.
A Rosary was held Friday, January 20, 2017, at 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. A funeral mass followed at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s with Father Rafael Carballo and Deacon Stuart Neslin officiating. Interment then followed at Floyd Memory Gardens with the Honor Guard of the Shanklin-Attaway Post No. 5 of the American Legion providing military rites. Family members served as pallbearers.
