Frances Owens Spearman

Mrs. Spearman was born in Bartow Co., on March 10, 1920, the daughter of the late Bessie Johnson Owens and Ernest Owens. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Spearman, on October 4, 1997, and a brother, Hubert Owens.

Mrs. Spearman was a member of the First Baptist Church and a former member of the Edith Harbin Sunday School Class. She also worked in the Pre-School Department for 20 years as director and in the Koinonia Soup Kitchen for 10 years. She also worked as a cashier at West Central Elementary School.

Mrs. Spearman was a charter member and past matron of the Etowah Chapter No. 30 and served as secretary from 1967-2004. She was also a member of the Past Matrons and Past Patron Club of District No. 14.

Survivors include one son, Robert Alan Spearman, and his wife, Mary, Chatham, VA; and a number of cousins.

Funeral services will be held Friday, December, 2, 2011, at 11 a.m. at the graveside in Sunset Hill Memorial Gardens with Dr. Joel Snider officiating.

The family will receive friends at Daniel’s Funeral Home on Friday from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to the service.
