

He was a graduate of Lenox High School, Lenox MA and GE Mfg Studies Program. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps after graduation and served in the Pacific Theater serving in the occupation forces in Nagasaki Japan, serving from Sept 1945 until July 1946. He was employed by General Electric Co for 36 years and retired as a Manufacturing Engineer in 1984.
Mr. Joyner was active in Boy Scouts of America having received the Silver Beaver award. He was also active in the Boys Club having coached baseball and football.
He was a charter member of the Transfiguration Episcopal Church serving as Senior and Junior Warden. He was past president of GEAA and a member of the GE Supervisory Club. He was a Member of The Marine Corps League and American Legion. His hobbies were fishing, golf, square dancing and traveling.
George is survived by his wife Sarita "Bonnie;" Other survivors include a son David (Pam) of Dalton, GA; daughters, Deborah Dennemann (Mike) of Cincinnati, Oh, and Gail Gresham (Jim) of Jacksonville, Fl, 11 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
A memorial service was held on Tuesday, December 1, 2015, at Transfiguration Episcopal Church, 304 Coker Drive, Rome, Ga 30165 at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Transfiguration Episcopal Church.
