George W. Reynolds, 93, passed this life on November 23, 2018 in Rome, Georgia. He was born April 1, 1925, the third son to Charles and Maude Reynolds of Columbus, Ohio. He attended high school in Columbus, Ohio and received his Bachelor’s degree from Ohio State, then went on to receive a Mechanical Engineering degree from the University of Illinois. He relocated to Macon, Georgia to pursue his career as an engineer at a paper manufacturer and it was there that he met the love of his life, Natalie, who was the music minister of the Downtown Baptist Church. Mr. Reynolds engineering assignments included planning operational improvements and constructing major facilities in the south including Macon and Rome, Georgia, as well as Eufaula, Alabama. George was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Rome, Georgia for more than 60 years, where he was a Sunday school teacher, chairman of deacons, treasurer, life deacon and sat on many committees. He served in the United States Navy in both World War II and the Korean Conflict. His was a lifetime Rotary club member and also cherished his time working with the Boy Scouts of America, serving on the Board of the Blaylock Child Development Center, the Library Literacy Program and Habitat for Humanity. His greatest joy came from having fun with his granddaughters as they were growing up.
George was preceded in death by his loving wife Natalie, partners in life enjoying harmony for sixty years, his parents and his brothers Clayton and Arthur. He is survived by his two loving children Neal Reynolds and Ruth Reynolds, his sweet daughter-in-law Myra Reynolds, his two adoring granddaughters Natalie and Morgan Reynolds, his nephews and other family members living in Ohio.
A memorial service celebrating George’s life will be held on Monday, November 26, 2018 at 3 PM, with a visitation directly following the service from 4-6 PM in the sanctuary at the First Baptist Church in Rome, GA.
