Gerald Jones Vick

Mr. Vick was born in Rome on April 4, 1940, the son of the late James H. Vick, Sr., and Ruby Jones Vick. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, James H. Vick, Jr.

Mr. Vick was a graduate of Darlington School and Auburn University and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Rome.

Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Janice Gaskin Vick, to whom he was married December 15, 1962; one son, Gerald Jones Vick. Jr., (Katie), Jasper, AL; one daughter, Ann Howard Vick, Rome; five grandchildren, Richard Charles Cross, Jacksonville, Al, Aaron Nathaniel Vick, Jacksonville, AL, Hannah Sofia Vick-Cortina, Rome, Gerald Jones Vick, III, Jasper, AL, and Samantha Carol Vick, Jasper, AL; one brother, John David Vick (Diane), Tampa, FL; and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.

A memorial service was held Thursday, March 14, 2013, at 2:30 p.m. at the First Baptist Church, Rome, with Dr. Joel Snider officiating. The family received friends in the sanctuary following the service.

Honorary pallbearers were Dr. Stan Self, Dr. Robert Cates and John Winget.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to a favorite charity.
