

Gloria “Diane” Cambron Rood was born on January 30, 1946, in Rome, GA to the late James “Jim” Byron Cambron and Odessa “Totsie” Jones Cambron. She was also preceded in death by her paternal grandparents Caine Monroe Cambron and Lassie Swinney Cambron and maternal grandparents Nannie Kilgore Jones and Delay Jones. She was also preceded in death by a special aunt, Edna Estelle Cambron.
Diane graduated from West Rome High School in 1964. She studied at Floyd College and Berry College. She was employed by Big Time Products, where she served as Human Resources Manager and Executive Assistant to the CEO/ Owner. She retired from Big Time Products in 2012. She was a member of Post 5 American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, a former member of the Rome Area Chamber of Commerce and SHRM (Society for Human Resource Management).
Diane was strong in her faith. She was a member of Saint Mary’s Catholic Church for 57 years. She wasn’t afraid to tell anyone that it was through the grace of God that she survived so many years after she was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer.
Diane was devoted to her family. She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Stephen “Steve” Rood; one son, Stephen Shane Rood (Vickie Wheeler); two precious grandchildren, Gavin Shane Rood, the love of her life, and Zoe Belle Rood, her granddaughter who she loved so much; her beautiful great granddaughter, Sutton Cambron Rood; her daughter-in-law, Kelly Tudor, who was like a daughter. She is also survived by two brothers, Don (Diane) Cambron of Franklin, TN and Alan (Grace Guerriere) Cambron of Fort Worth, TX. A special niece, Erin (Troy) Dent of Weatherford, TX and two nephews, Caine (Emily) Cambron of Arlington, TX and Mikell Cambron of Nashville, TN. She is also survived by three great nieces, Kylie Dent, Harper Dent and Piper Cambron, and two great nephews, Canon Cambron and Gray Cambron; and special cousins that she loved and many special friends that were like family, that she adored.
Diane’s favorite thing was spending time with her family and friends. Her family was her life. She loved travelling with her husband and grandson Gavin when he was younger. She especially enjoyed their travels to London, Paris, Canada, New York and especially Hawaii which was her favorite place.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 13, 2025 at 12:00 noon in the Chapel at Daniel’s Funeral Home with Rev. David Thornton and Deacon Stuart Neslin officiating. Interment will follow in Oaknoll Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, at the funeral home from 10:00 am until the service time.
Mrs. Rood’s family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Delawar Khan and his staff of the Tony Warren Cancer Center for the special care given to her during her years of treatment for lung cancer. Their love and kindness will always be remembered.
