

Harold A. (Hal) Parker passed away July 15, 2025, at home. A native of Ballston Spa, New York, he has resided in Rome, Georgia since January 1954. He was the son of Susan B. Parker and Howard W. Parker, both deceased.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Ella Foote Parker, whom he married in August, 1949. Mrs. Parker passed away in July, 1993.
Mr. Parker retired from General Electric in 1986. He served in various positions and was Manager of Manufacturing Shop Operations at the time of his retirement.
He was an electrical engineering graduate from Louisiana Technical Institute (later Louisiana Tech University). He was President of the Gamma Alpha chapter of the Kappa Alpha Fraternity while in college. He was a licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Georgia.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was a member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars at the time of his death.
Mr. Parker was a devout Christian, active in various ministries during his lifetime. He was very proud of his work with the Crisis Ministry of West Rome United Methodist Church, where he attended since 1954.
He is survived by his long-time sweetheart and companion, Martha F. Smart of Rome and children, Ginger (David) McPheeters, Steve (Kristy) Parker, and Joanie Weller, six grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Services will be held at the Chapel of Daniel’s Funeral Home at 11:00am on Friday, July 18, 2025. The family will receive visitors one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Oaknoll Memorial Gardens. Rev. Dr. Douglas Thrasher will be officiating the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations in his memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (stjude.org) or to St. Joseph’s Indian School (stjo.org/give).
