
Mrs. Fortenberry was born in Madison, GA, on November 13, 1913, the daughter of the late Benjamin R. Everett and Tilda M. Burnett Everett. She was married to Floyd W. Fortenberry on November 21, 1933, and was preceded in death by him on October 3, 1986. She was also preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.
Mrs. Fortenberry was a charter member of the New Antioch Baptist Church and was also a member of the Eastern Star Etowah Chapter No. 30, Rome. She and her husband were in the poultry business for a number of years and she also worked at Anchor Rome Mill and Klopman Mill. She loved her cat, Thomas, and also enjoyed fishing and growing flowers.
Survivors include one daughter, Vonnell Cescutti, and her husband, Edmund, Rome; two grandchildren, Michael Cescutti, and his wife, Cathi, Rome, and Cathy Cescutti Powell and her husband, Jim, Rome; four great grandchildren, Blake Cescutti and Courtney, Rome, Tripp Powell and Brittany, Rome, Andrea Cescutti Blankenship and Derek, Woodstock, and Melissa Powell and Todd, Arlington, VA; and one great, great grandchild, Mary James Powell.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, March 18, 2012, at 2 p.m. at the graveside in the East View Cemetery, Rome, with the Rev. Max Tucker officiating. The family will greet friends at the cemetery following the service.
