Ms. Barbieri was born in Knoxville, TN, on December 13, 1938, the daughter of the late Wilbur L. and Helen McNeil Fattig. She was a graduate of Druid Hills High School in 1956 and received the very first degree in Art awarded by Georgia State University in 1963. In addition to Rome, Ms. Barbieri had lived in Savannah and Atlanta, GA, and Hendersonville, NC, where she was a member of the First United Methodist Church and active in the Emmaus ministry. Most recently, she was a member of Rome First United Methodist Church.
Ms. Barbieri was previously employed by Georgia State University in the Art Dept., and also in special services at Fort Gordon, GA. She also served as an art teacher in the Atlanta public schools and as secretary to the president of the Atlanta Arts Festival. Her watercolors were exhibited and sold regionally and nationally, especially the Vincent Price Collection for Sears, the Montag Stationary Company and numerous arts festivals.
Survivors include one son, Chris Barbieri II and his wife, Jennifer, Rome; a granddaughter, Anna Grace Barbieri, Rome; one brother, Wilbur Donald Fattig and his wife Barbara, Hendersonville; nephew, Karl Fattig, Brunswick ME; and nephew Kurt Fattig, Birmingham AL.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 2, 2013, at 2 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church, Rome, with Rev. Dave Benson officiating.
