Beloved Daughter, Sister, Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Great-grandmother

Born Helen Rose Young, the only daughter of Catherine Giarraputo and David Young, Helen was fond of saying that she would always be “young.” A woman who wore her heart on her sleeve and was never afraid to tell you what she thought, Helen is survived by her brother - Bernard Young, her husband - Daniel J. Paracka to whom she was married for sixty-five years, her five children – Danny (Yan), Janice, Joann (Larry), Karen (Pete) and Barbara (Thomas), her seven grandchildren – Michael Poster (Ashley), Shan Paracka (Liza) and Dylan Paracka, Nicholas and Libby Dall, Alexander and Bethany Rider, and her great-grandchildren – Cooper Paracka and Makaila Beckom. She lived a full and active life.

Helen was a strong woman who was always by her husband’s side and whose husband always stood by her. They met in New York City and started a family in Maywood, New Jersey. They moved their family many times, but Helen made every place home, especially Rome, Ga, where Helen was an active member of the community including St. Mary’s Church, Coosa Country Club, and organizations such as Meals on Wheels. Among her diverse interests and hobbies, she loved to play cards and achieved the rank of a lifetime Silver Master Bridge player. Through good times and bad, she maintained a positive spirit uplifting everyone around her. Helen is lovingly remembered and will be deeply missed.

Her family invites everyone who knew and loved Helen to attend a funeral service in her honor at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Rome at 10:30 am on Monday, June 9, 2025. An inurnment will follow in St. Mary’s Catholic Church Memorial Garden immediately after the service. The church will be hosting a reception following the inurnment in the Church's Social Hall.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, June 8, 2025 at Daniel’s Funeral Home from 2:00 pm until 4:00 pm.
