Mr. Arrington was born on November 5, 1933, in Cedartown, Georgia son of the late Homer Forrest Arrington and Alma Beatrice Peek Arrington. He grew up in Cedartown and was a graduate of Cedartown High School in 1951. Following graduation, Mr. Arrington was a M.P. at a test station in Yuma, Arizona. He received a Meritorious Service Award from the United States Air Force in recognition of 100 hours of faithful service as a member of the Ground Observer Corps. Mr. Arrington was then employed with G.E. for almost 38 years. He was a member of the Garden Lakes Baptist Church since 1978 serving as Deacon and in the food pantry Ministry. Mr. Arrington was an avid fan of Southern Gospel music and western T.V. shows. He also loved working on cars and was quite a “handy man”.
Mr. Arrington is survived by his wife of 54 years, Gere Ann Lefevers Arrington of Rome; two daughters and sons-in-law, Zegie and Chris Hilliard of Cave Spring, Marcy and Will Van Kleef of Rome; five grandchildren, Mitchell Scoggins, Jeremy Hilliard,Kylie Hilliard, Molly Van Kleef and Emily Van Kleef; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Steve and Janice Arrington, Donnie and Lynne Arrington, Bobby Arrington all of Cedartown; Sisters-in-law, Marie and Sammy King, Doty and Buford May, and Fannie Lefevers. A special Aunt, Jewell Arrington Tuck; special friends, Florene Gray Johnson and Bobby and Patricia Compton also survive.
Funeral services were held Monday, April 2, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. in the Garden Lakes Baptist Church with Dr. Richard Kremer, Rev. Bob Skelton officiating. Interment will follow in the Polk Memory Garden in Cedartown, GA.
The family will receive friends Sunday evening, April 1, 2012 from 6 P.M. until 8 P.M. in Garden Lakes Baptist Church.
The following gentlemen served as pallbearers and included, Mitchell Scoggins, Jeff Arrington, Scott Arrington, Brian Arrington, Brent Arrington, Kevin Ellis and Freddie Giles. Honorary Pallbearers include, Michael Lefevers, Johnny Lefevers, David Lefevers, Jeremy Hilliard and Bobby Compton.
Flowers were accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice.
