

She was born April 11, 1926 to the late Ray Jenkins and Julia Mae (Ferguson) Harris at Erlanger Hospital in Chattanooga, TN. During her childhood, she lived in Tennessee as well as Michigan and Georgia.
She graduated high school from Muskegon Heights High School in Michigan. She went on to receive an associate degree in education from Floyd College, a bachelor degree in elementary education from Berry College, and a specialist degree in reading from the University of West Georgia. As a lifelong scholar, she was a proud member of the National Honor Society Phi Kappa Phi. With a strong passion for reading and education, she taught school at Summerville Elementary School for 31 years, retiring June 2008.
She also had a passion for her family and animals of all shapes and sizes. She was dearly loved by her family and friends and will be greatly missed.
Survivors include children Emily M. English of Miami, FL., and William T. Mize (Faye) of Smyrna, GA; grandchildren include William A. Mize (Channie) of Delray Beach, FL., Catrina B. Mize of New York City, NY., and Amanda F. Mize-Talley (Brian) of Smyrna, GA; great-grandchildren include Carolina Mize of Delray Beach, FL., Hannah Mize of New York City, NY., Caitlyn Mize of Delray Beach, FL., Courtney Mize of Delray Beach, FL., and Tallulah Talley of Smyrna, GA.
