
Jewel Garner was born May 3, 1932 in Columbus, Georgia to the late David and Ruby Turner. Jewel had a very full life of love and happiness. She loved geology, traveling, music, and her family with all she had in her. Jewel also enjoyed volunteering at Creswell Convalescent Center and working with the children at Second Avenue Baptist Church.
Jewel Garner was preceded in death by her late husband, Robert Lamar Garner and her late sister, Shirley Salmon. Survivors include her children, Bob Garner and his wife Candace Seaton of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Faye Freeman and her husband Greg of Rome, her granddaughter Carly Freeman Maynor and her husband Blake Maynor of Whiteman Air Force Base, Missouri, two grandsons Ben and Will Seaton of Colorado Springs, Colorado, her brother Edgar(Ed) Turner and his wife Patricia of Rome, who were very special to her and many nieces and nephews and their children. She is also survived by a special friend, travel partner, and loving caregiver James Robbins of California.
A celebration of Mrs. Garner’s life will take place on January 16, 2016 at 4 pm at Second Avenue Baptist Church. Family and friends are welcome. The family asks in lieu of flowers, that memorial contributions be made to Second Avenue Baptist Church at 823 E. Second Avenue SW Rome, GA 30161 in her honor.
