

Mr. Ingram was born March 10, 1927, in White, GA, to Ernest Ingram and Grace Goddard Ingram. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Ernestine Ingram Barnes.
Mr. Ingram served in the U. S. Navy in World War II aboard the USS Ajax in the South Pacific. He was a graduate of Boys’ High School and the University of Georgia. He was employed as a manufacturer’s representative for W. Lamar Young and Co., Plano, Texas for 30 years. Before that he was employed by General Foods Corporation.
Mr. Ingram was a member of the First Baptist Church of Rome. He worked in the Soup Kitchen for 20 years, making homemade vegetable soup his specialty. He was a member of the O. M. Cates Sunday School Class. He was also a member of the American Legion and was a past president of the Coosa Country Club.
He was a devoted husband and father. He enjoyed all sports, but especially golf and getting together with friends to cheer on the Georgia Bulldogs. He particularly enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren participate in athletic events. He loved his country.
He is survived by his wife Patsy Jo Porter, of 54 years, having married June 28, 1959; two sons, John Porter Ingram and his wife, Ginger Gould Ingram, and their children, Virginia Grace Ingram and Joseph Porter Ingram, and Joseph Patrick Ingram and his wife, Shanda Lyn Wicksell Ingram, and their son, Hogan John Ingram.
Funeral services were held Saturday, May 24, 2014, at 10 a.m. in the chapel of the First Baptist Church with Dr. Joel Snider officiating and Bill Fricks delivering the eulogy. The family received friends in the dining room of the First Baptist Church following the service. Interment was in Myrtle Hill Cemetery with the Shanklin-Attaway American Legion Honor Guard providing military rites. Honorary pallbearers were Winston Sirmans, Elwood Hunt, Byron Reeves, Gardner Wright, James Ward, Bill DuPre, Wallace Hanson, S. A. Dunson and Bill Fricks.
