LAURA AND I, SUSAN DANIEL, BECAME SISTERS WHEN OUR PARENTS, BUD HARRIS, WIDOWER, AND RUTH DANIEL, WIDOW CAST CAUTION TO THE WIND AND MARRIED AUG. 1, 1953. HE HAD THREE CHILDREN; SHE HAD TWO. THE YOUNGEST WERE GIRLS JUST TURNING 7 YEARS OF AGE. THEN THE FAMILY MOVED ALMOST IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE WEDDING--ONE WEEK--TO BARNESVILLE, GA WHERE BUD BECAME PRESIDENT OF GORDON MILITARY COLLEGE. LAURA WAS ALREADY THERE, AND THE FIRST NIGHT, WHEN I WAS NERVOUS SHE SLEPT IN BED WITH ME TO CALM ME. IT IS A WONDERFUL COMBINATION OF FAMILIES, EACH WITH ITS OWN STORY AND THEN CREATING A NEW ONE. I GAINED SO MUCH HAPPINESS FROM THEIR COURAGE TO PUT US ALL TOGETHER!
