

Mrs. Bearden was born March 16, 1916 to the late William Virgil and Sarah Agnes Whisenant Penn. She resided in Rome, Floyd County her entire life. Mrs. Bearden attended Floyd County Schools and was a graduate of a Chattanooga Fashion school. She retired from Millers Brothers Co. during 1969. Mrs. Bearden was a member of North Rome United Methodist Church for 50 years. She became a Charter Member of Chapel Hill United Methodist Church where she helped in the naming of that church. Mrs. Bearden was the first woman to be elected as a steward to serve with the Administrative Board. She served as President and lifelong member of the Wesleyan Service Guild, President of the Youth Department, President of Decorating Committee and helped organize a discussion class. Mrs. Bearden was elected as a delegate to the United Methodist conference and was a Charter Member of Lady Marion Homemakers Club.
Survivors are; one daughter, Joan B. Myrick and one son; Charles F. Bearden Jr. , both of Rome; two grandchildren; James E. and Lori Myrick of Sand Rock, and Traci M. Tillery and Chris L. Robinson of Rome; four great-grandchildren; Victoria Mackey, Tristan Tillery, Courtney Myrick, and Mason Tillery.
Graveside services will be held at East View Cemetery on Monday, November 27, 2017 at 2:00pm with the Rev. Tom Bowen officiating
