

Predeceased by parents Palmer B. and Fannie L. Brandon and brothers: Robert Ward, Homer Laughlin, Ewin Brandon, Joe Alexander (Marianne), Gerald Douglas, and sisters: Mildred Guy (Leo), Crystal Baker (Curtis), Dorothy Plattner (Paul), Louise Esleck (Foster), Betty Horton (Ed), and good friends Richard L. Durrett and Col. James W. Brown.
Survived by his loving wife of 64 years Jane Brandon, his brother Fred Brandon (Carlynn), sister-in-law Ruth Ann Brandon, daughters Jennifer Smith (Eddie), Allison Gaskins (Chris), and Hope Buchanan (Matthew), grandchildren Taylor Gaskins Ely (Jonathan), Callie Buchanan Jenkins (Colby), Bryson Smith, and Cole Buchanan, and a host of nieces and nephews, and family friend Richard Tran.
Lynn was a devoted educator whose career spanned over 50 years. He worked as an elementary school teacher, a high school counselor, a Coordinator of Guidance and Counseling for Dekalb County Schools, and as an adjunct professor for Mercer University, Berry College, and Georgia Highlands College and a consultant for Northwest Georgia RESA.
He attended Tennessee Wesleyan College on a scholarship where he was personally responsible for any additional expenses. He graduated from Tennessee Wesleyan with a B.S. Degree in Economics. He received a Master’s Degree, Educational Specialist Degree and a Ph.D. from Georgia State University. All of his graduate work was done part-time and over a span of fourteen years.
Dr. Brandon was a fierce advocate for the improvement of School Counseling services to young people. He was active in professional organizations locally, statewide, and nationally. He also served as the President of the Georgia School Counselor Association and was a member of the American School Counselor Association. He was recognized multiple times by both the Georgia School Counselor Association and the American School Counselor Association for his outstanding contribution to his profession. He received the first honorary lifetime membership in the Arizona School Counselor Association in appreciation for his mentorship to their organization. He was on the speaker’s circuit for many years speaking all across America to thousands of individuals in keynote addresses, banquet speeches, and workshops. He also was gifted with a lifetime membership of the Parent Teacher Association.
Dr. Brandon was a Christian who believed in putting hands and feet to his prayers. He was a long-time member of Smoke Rise Baptist Church in Stone Mountain, GA where he taught the Pathfinders Sunday School Class for many years. He is currently a member of Second Avenue Baptist Church in Rome, GA where he was currently teaching Sunday School and served on various committees and the Deacon Council.
Dr. Brandon was an active member of the Rome Exchange Club where he cherished his friendships with fellow members.
