Marsha Lynn Gaskin
February 19, 1957 – April 14, 2021
Marsha Lynn Nance Gaskin passed away peacefully at her home on April 14, 2021. Marsha was born on February 19, 1957 in Rome, GA to the late Cecil Ray Nance and Mary Ann Nance Land. After being diagnosed with Crohn’s Disease in November of 1978 at the age of 21, she continued to battle the disease until her death. She attended Coosa School and was a member of Refuge Church (formerly Wax Baptist Church).
Marsha is survived by her beloved husband Ricky Gaskin to whom she was married for 38 years. She also leaves to cherish her memory two sons, Jeremy Gaskin and Scott Hudson. Four grandchildren Hayden Gaskin, Summer Gaskin, Gary Gaskin and Haley Falls. She is also survived by three siblings, Jayne Nance Diggs and her husband Gary of Silver Creek; Betty Herron and her husband Ted of Akron, Ohio; Wyatt Nance and his wife Carole of Cartersville and a very special aunt, Sue Bowman who resides in Rainsville, Alabama.
Family members and close friends of Marsha observed a woman of great faith and courage…never complaining of the pain or inconvenience of her debilitating disease. She loved the Lord with all her heart and on the most difficult and painful days, would often comment “I know that God has purpose for me”. She adored her grandchildren and when they would visit or stay overnight she made sure they enjoyed the outdoors, barnyard animals, riding around their property in the golf cart, playing games, watching their favorite cartoon or movie and much more.
According to her wishes, Marsha will be cremated and her ashes scattered at a favorite location on their property. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
The family of Marsha would like to express their appreciation to the staff and nurses at Tapestry Care Hospice, with a special thank you to Crystal, Heather and Leigha.

To Jane, Betty, and Wyatt... I love you all. Marsha was my first playmate. I remember those days on Huffacker Road vividly. Marsha and I would play "dress up", we would swing as high as we could on the swing set trying to touch the clouds, and we painted Mr. Cecil's car with red mud. You all have been among the the sweetest memories of my life, I even remember Randy from school. There are no words that can sooth the pain of the loss of one so loved so I won't try. I will just say, "The good ol' days, I think of them often, they are forever alive in my heart." I love you all... Nett.

Dearest Aunt Marsha,
I love you so much! I have so many sweet memories of visiting your home as a young kid, a teen, and as a mother myself. You always welcomed me with open arms, that sweet laugh of yours, and a delicious home cooked southern meal! I remember buckets of green beans, take-and-bake pizza from a near by convenient store, watching movies, swimming in the above ground pool, and holding your soft hand while sitting on your sofa visiting and laughing for hours! I still have the red-headed Barbie doll you gave me for Christmas when I was 7! And..I will never forget that awful perm you and my mom talked me into getting when I was 12! I was always so proud to share your middle name...so proud that I passed it onto my daughter. May your loving and gentle ways live on in all those who knew and loved you!
I love you Aunt Marsha. May you rest in peace.
---All my love, Katrina Lynn

My little sister, so many memories.. Such a Beautiful Spirited young girl, she would love with all her heart but turn around and cuss you out in a heart beat, so very spirited. Loved her family and would give her last penny to her sons. Always, always welcomed anyone into her home, "come on in" she would say. Most all of the Gaskin and Nance gatherings took place at her home, I referred to her place as the Gaskin Ponderosa. I already miss her so very much, those blue eyes, that long beautiful hair and that infectious smile! Yet my heart is warm knowing that she is with mom now, my baby sister is in my mom's arms and my loving Jesus's arms, no more heartache and no more physical pain. I will carry you in my heart till I see you again. I love you Marsha, my little baby sister, Big sis, Betty
