December 1, 2020, surrounded by her loving family in her home as she wished. Marta was generous &
kind, strong & hardworking. She fought a long, hard battle with cancer. She will be forever loved and
missed and is now finally at peace with no more suffering. Marta was born February 3, 1947, in Buenos
Aires, Argentina. She was the daughter of the late Joseph Glynn and Julie Vass Ouseley. She was also
preceded in death by her brother, Norbert Lee Ouseley. Marta is survived by her son, Blake Turner (wife
Kim, and grandchildren Dutch and Reagan), two daughters, Crystal Elizabeth Stewart (husband Jim, and
grandchildren Kensie, Vana and Jasper) and Amy Joy Turner; and also a sister, Grace Lee Truman.
Marta’s passion for protecting the environment led her to become the Director of the Rome Floyd
County Recycling Center in 1992. After retiring in 2008, she continued her devotion to her community
through many selfless acts of caring for others – volunteering often for many different organizations
including Soles for Souls and NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness). Even while fighting her own
battle with cancer in the last couple of years of her life, Marta also continued to care for her sick
mother, Julie Ouseley. We were grateful to be able to witness her courage.
Marta’s family will hold a private inurnment at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider a
donation in Marta’s name to NAMI or another impactful organization of your choice.
