
Mrs. Lyon was born August 14, 1930 in Concord, Massachusetts, daughter of the late Miriam Victoria Nurmi Mattson and Victor Mattson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond S. Lyon.
Mrs. Lyon was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Rome for 38 years where she sang in the choir for 35 years. She was also a member of the Rome Symphony Choir and the New Romans Club.
Survivors include four children, Dr. Victoria Lyon Lane and her husband, Wade Lane, Destin, FL, Cynthia Lyon Smith and her husband, Randall Smith, Twin City, Rebecca Lyon Teems, and her husband, Billy Teems, LaFayette, and Jeffrey A. Lyon, Rome; nine grandchildren, Loren Stewart Cantos, and her husband, Dave Cantos, Newnan, Jason Smith, Twin City, Benjamin Smith, Twin City, Christopher Lane, Destin, Taylor Lyon, Rome, Jordan Teems, LaFayette, Spenser Lyon, Rome, Casey Lane, Destin, and Payton Teems, LaFayette; and one great grandchild, Anderson Cantos, Newnan.
A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Friday, August 12, 2011, in the Griffin Memorial Chapel of Daniel’s Funeral Home, Rome, GA, with her son-in-law, the Rev. Randall Smith officiating.
The family will receive friends at Daniel’s Funeral Home on Friday from 3 until 4 p.m.
